Scholars' Hall is the only nondenominational private school in KW. Students from all faiths and all nationalities feel equally at home in SH. In addition, Scholars’ Hall provides courses of study at many levels of instruction, allowing students, not only access to the University of their choice, but, Scholars' Hall gives them an advantage when seeking admission to the much sought after applied degrees at Ontario’s Community Colleges.
The Homework Habit needs to be truly owned by a student. Homework must be given on a daily basis and in amounts that a child perceives as "do-able". At Scholars' Hall the "rule of thumb" for the total amount of homework assigned, each school night, is 5 minutes X's their grade. A Grade 3 student will get 15 minutes of homework while a Grade 11 students will have 55 minutes of homework.
Eat Smart Food for breakfast because it is the most important meal for peak academic performance. Serve them an egg sandwich or melted cheese on toast. The protein-carb combo keeps kids energized. Toast up whole-grain bread or frozen whole-grain waffles. The fiber they deliver will keep kid's stomachs satisfied longer and deliver loads of glucose which fuels brain power.
Welcome to SJSH! This school is so much more than a career for me. This school is my home, my family, and my heart. My father and mother started SJSH back in 1982 when I was just a baby and I have grown alongside of the school ever since. My first job here was watering plants and collecting garbage from the age of 5 years old!
I began tutoring and helping with classes when I was 13 years old and it became clear that my passion and future would revolve around St. Jude’s/Scholars’ Hall.
After graduating from Wilfrid Laurier in 2001 with an Honours Degree in Political Science, I attended Nipissing University from 2002 to 2003 for my Bachelor of Education. I then began a long teaching career where I taught everything from kindergarten music to OAC Philosophy and Canadian Law. While I taught grade 7/8 for a number of years, most of my teaching career has been in the high school setting – teaching high school English, Geography, History, Business, Law, Philosophy, and other senior social studies classes.
In 2012, I became the principal of SJSH leading our school to become the powerhouse in education it is today.
From 2021 to 2023 I completed my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership through Western University. I am set to graduate with my Doctorate in Educational Leadership in the fall of 2026. Learning how to apply my years of teaching experience with the theoretical underpinnings of leadership has been incredibly rewarding.
With the strong foundation that my father and mother started back in 1982, I am honoured to lead SJSH into the future. This is my home, my family, and my heart and soul. Welcome to the SJSH Family!
